The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to enhance your diving skills and experience after you've completed the Open Water Diver certification. It allows you to explore different diving specialties and increase your depth limit to 30 meters (100 feet). The course involves five dives, including mandatory deep and navigation dives, and three elective adventure dives chosen with your instructor.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
What it is:
A course for certified PADI Open Water Divers (or equivalent) looking to advance their skills and knowledge.
It's not just for "advanced" divers; anyone can take it after completing the Open Water course.
It helps build confidence and expands your diving capabilities.
What you'll learn:
Deep Diving: Learn about the effects of depth on the body, nitrogen narcosis, and how to plan and execute deeper dives.
Underwater Navigation: Improve your ability to navigate using natural landmarks and a compass.
Three Adventure Dives: Choose from a variety of specialty dives like wreck diving, peak performance buoyancy, digital underwater photography, and more.
What's included:
eLearning materials: You'll learn the theory online.
Knowledge reviews: You'll review the material covered in the eLearning modules.
Five open water dives: Two mandatory (deep and navigation) and three elective.
Certification: Upon successful completion, you'll be certified to dive to 30 meters.
Key points:
You can start the course right after your Open Water certification.
Each adventure dive can count as credit towards a corresponding PADI specialty course.
Junior divers (12-14 years old) can participate in certain adventure dives.
