At Scuba Libre Diving, we kicked off the summer season with a fantastic training weekend at Gildenburgh Water, one of our favorite lakes for scuba courses. Held over the weekend of June 21st-22nd, it was a jam-packed event with divers of all levels joining us to complete their PADI courses.

Double the Gear, Double the Fun

For the first time, we had to load up both of our vans to make sure we had everything we needed—gear, tanks, and even a gazebo (because, let's face it, we weren't going to let the hot weather catch us unprepared!).

We arrived bright and early on Saturday morning, setting up by 8 am. With the team prepped and the sun shining, we were ready for a weekend of training, fun, and celebration.

A Special Milestone: Jon's Adaptive Instructor Achievement

Our first diver into the water was Jon, who joined Karl, Rich, and Gordon for two dives. We're thrilled to announce that after completing both dives, Jon is now officially a PADI Adaptive Instructor! This is a huge achievement, and we’re excited to see him put this new qualification to use, helping more people experience the world of diving. Be sure to keep an eye out for his upcoming adventures!

The Main Event: PADI Open Water Diver Course

After the professional-level dives, we dove straight into the main event of the weekend: the PADI Open Water Diver course.

We had two groups, each with a different dynamic:

  • Group 1: A family of three, all learning together. They completed the required dives with instructors Ben and Pat and knocked out all the skills needed for the first half of the course.

  • Group 2: Another group of three, led by Karl, Rich, and Gordon. By the end of day one, they had completed three out of the four required dives.

It was fantastic to see everyone’s skills grow over the weekend. Whether they were mastering buoyancy or learning to communicate underwater, everyone did a great job!

Sunny Skies, Happy Divers

Despite the heat, we found plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. Between dives, there was ample opportunity to soak up the sun and chat about all things scuba.

A Weekend to Remember: New PADI Certifications

We reconvened on Sunday to complete the final dives, and by the end of the day, everyone had earned their PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certifications. These entry-level certifications open the door to diving around the world—and we couldn’t be more excited for our new divers to explore the underwater world with their new skills!

A Big Thank You & Congratulations

A huge thank you to the entire Scuba Libre Diving team for making this weekend run smoothly and a massive congratulations to all of our divers who completed their courses. We can’t wait to hear about your upcoming adventures in the underwater world!

Here’s to many more dives and sunny weekends ahead.
